A whole lotta workin' goin' on! |
Maintaining, updating, improving, protecting. These are the many facets of the job of the Trustees as they work to maintain
our meeting place in good repair according to the local ordinances and to ensure that it remains a pleasant place to gather.
Work days are scheduled on at least one Saturday each month to allow those willing, to come and help in the routine and special
maintenance tasks required to keep the Waipio GBC building, parsonage, and missionary cottage in tip top shape. Interested?
[July 2002]
We've accomplished quite a few projects these last 6 months, including one or two that we totally hadn't planned on doing
anytime soon. We'd like to give thanks to ALL of those who donated labor and material to make these projects happen!
- Stage Construction Project
- This project included several other projects in order to maintain the appearance of
the meeting hall and to meet certain safety codes.
- Exterior sidewalk/wheelchair access.
- This project
relocated the wheelchair entrance to the rear of the meeting hall through the door near the back/sound room. This enabled
us to meet the fire/safety/handicapped access portions of the building code.
- Sanctuary flooring
- The old meeting
hall sure had a facelift when the old, loose, wrinkled carpet and cracked and faded tile was pulled up and replaced with donated
materials that are much more pleasing to the eye. Completion of this project allowed the transformation of the meeting hall
with the new stage setup to be complete!(Donated materials and labor)
- Sanctuary painting
- When the carpet and
tile is pulled up, there's no time like the present to ensure that a new coat of paint is put on the walls to help brighten
up the room. Not having to worry about spilling probably made the job go faster and the results are definitely worth the efforts
of all involved.
(Donated materials and labor)
- Front yard project
- This project wasn't planned to happen until the future, but thanks to one of the member's know-how
and availability of grass seed through his contacts, we were able to start the transformation of the building front in conjunction
with the building of the wheelchair access sidewalk. The old grass was graded away, rocks removed from the soil, new grass
and new plants planted. The result, the front lawn is looking more and more beautiful every week!
(Donated materials
and labor)
- Bathroom stall doors
- There is much to be said for privacy. All we have to say is, "Hoooray for the Trustees!!!"
